Mandan, N.D. - Charges against Amy Goodman and five others for criminal trespass were dismissed Friday, October 14, 2016. This was done at the request of Special Assistant State’s Attorney, Ladd Erickson. Erickson’s intention was to file charges that reflected the seriousness of the events that had taken place September 3rd, 2016. District Judge John Grinsteiner did not find probable cause to charge these individuals with engaging in a riot as presented on Friday. One individual has been charged with engaging in a riot for his involvement in the protest.

The Morton County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate the events of September 3rd. Additional charges are under further review by the Morton County State’s Attorney’s Office.

“After consulting with the Morton County States Attorney, I am assured charges are being considered against these individuals,” said Morton County Sheriff Kyle Kirchmeier. “Let me make this perfectly clear, if you trespass on private property, you will be arrested.”

Kirchmeier continued, “It is important that the residents of Morton County know that officers will arrest individuals who are caught trespassing on private land. Protecting the safety and the rights of Morton County residents is our top priority.”
