Woman arrested for physically abusing mother at protest campKathleen Bennet DAPL Arrest

MANDAN, ND – A 58-year-old Las Vegas woman was arrested yesterday around 4:10 pm on a felony warrant for endangering a vulnerable adult.

The affidavit says that Kathleen Bennett restrained and physically abused her 82 year old mother while at the Oceti Sakowin protest camp in Morton County.

According to the criminal complaint, Kathleen Bennett “knowingly performed an act that caused a vulnerable elderly adult’s life to be endangered, health to be injured, or pre-existing physical or mental condition to deteriorate, and failing to perform acts that the defendant as a caregiver knows are necessary to maintain or preserve the life or health of a vulnerable elderly adult.”

The complaint went on to say that Ms. Bennett left her mother physically restrained, unattended, and unprotected for long periods and physically assaulted her mother, failed to clothe, feed or provide water for her mother.

She was initially discovered in the Oceti Sakowin protest camp tent on December 6, 2016, zip tied to a chair and siting in her feces and urine.

No date has been set for her court appearance
